What we do
FC Juvenat is a grassroots youth soccer and leadership program serving children from the hillside communities overlooking the Juvenat area in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Every Saturday, boys and girls make the journey down the mountain to take part in a safe, structured, and inspiring environment built around sport, mentorship, and personal growth. In a city where many young people face intense daily pressure from gangs, FC Juvenat offers a powerful alternative—a place where children feel protected, supported, and guided toward a brighter and more hopeful future.
Our Saturday program welcomes children across five age groups—Girls U11, Girls U16, Boys U8, Boys U12, and Boys U16. Each group participates in 1.5-hour sessions that combine guided training, small-sided games, and supervised matches. Every child receives water during practice, and our dedicated volunteer coaches work hard to create an uplifting and encouraging space where kids can learn, play, and thrive.
To ensure safety and peace of mind for all families, FC Juvenat pays for accident insurance for all 100 participating children, as well as every coach, so that parents never have to worry about medical expenses if an injury occurs. This commitment reflects our belief that every child deserves the opportunity to grow, develop, and participate fully—without fear or financial burden.
Our work is strengthened by meaningful community partnerships. Union School generously provides access to its soccer field, allowing us to run our program consistently and securely. Each year, Union School parents donate school bags and sports equipment, helping children receive essential tools for both school and play. Students from the school’s EcoLife Club also host an annual sports and activities day focused on environmental education—teaching recycling, leading drawing sessions, and playing soccer, basketball, and volleyball with the children. These interactions build bridges across communities and broaden our children’s sense of belonging.
Once a year, we bring in a certified educator trained in Coaches Across Continents’ “Purposeful Play” methodology to lead workshops for both coaches and players. These sessions teach critical life skills—social inclusion, gender equality, conflict resolution, leadership—and help our young athletes develop tools that extend far beyond the soccer field.
At FC Juvenat, soccer is more than a sport—it is a pathway to safety, opportunity, confidence, and hope. By offering a positive alternative to gang influence and creating a community grounded in structure, compassion, and discipline, we empower children to envision and pursue a different future.
