Beyond the Field: Empowering FC Juvenat Players Through Education and Opportunity

FC Juvenat continues to expand its mission beyond the soccer field, creating meaningful opportunities that equip our players with the tools they need for life. Over the past few weeks, we have taken important steps forward through a powerful collaboration with the National Honors Society at Union School, the American school in Haiti, one that reflects our belief in developing the whole person through sport, education, and opportunity.

Through this partnership, a select group of players from our program participated in a hands-on computer literacy course led by students from the American school. In many public schools across Haiti, computer education remains largely theoretical, with limited access to actual devices or practical training. For our players, this experience was different. It was real, applied, and transformative.

On Saturday, April 18, ten of our players, five girls and five boys, completed two months of foundational computer training. For many of them, it was their first time ever using a computer. What may seem like a basic skill elsewhere represents a significant milestone for these students. They did not just learn how to use a computer; they built confidence, curiosity, and a sense of possibility.

The impact of this initiative goes far beyond digital skills. As our players grow older and eventually age out of our programs, experiences like this help prepare them for the realities of higher education and the workforce. Access to technology is no longer optional, it is essential. Our goal is to ensure that every participant leaves FC Juvenat with practical tools that support long term independence and opportunity.

Building on that momentum, the following Saturday, April 25, the National Honors Society at Union School organized a Career Day for our two older teams. A total of 35 players, 15 girls and 20 boys, had the chance to hear directly from professionals across a range of fields, including a pediatrician, teacher, manager, accountant, IT technician, nurse, and dentist.

For many of our players, this was their first exposure to such a wide range of career paths. These conversations matter. They plant seeds. They encourage our youth to begin thinking about their futures, to imagine themselves in these roles, and to understand the steps required to get there.

We are incredibly grateful to the students of the National Honors Society at Union School, as well as the parents and administrators who made these initiatives possible. Their commitment and generosity have opened doors for our players that extend far beyond the pitch.

At FC Juvenat, we believe that soccer is just the starting point. It is a platform, a way to engage, inspire, and uplift. But our true mission is to create an environment where every child can grow, learn, and believe in their potential.

We are proud of what has been accomplished, but we also know there is so much more to do.

If you believe in the work we are doing and would like to help us expand opportunities for our youth, we invite you to support FC Juvenat with a tax-deductible donation. Your generosity makes initiatives like this possible and helps us continue building pathways toward a brighter future.

Stay tuned, this is just the beginning.
